Lymphoma

Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that occurs when lymphocytes, white blood cells that help protect the body from infection and disease, begin behaving abnormally. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is the most common blood cancer and the seventh most common cancer in the United States. It is also the third most common cancer in children. The American Cancer Society estimates that over 20,000 people die from lymphoma each year.

The survival rate of people with NHL has improved from 31% in 1960 to 69% in 2006. Lymphoma is considered one of the most curable forms of cancer today. This section represents stories from survivors and other information needed to battle this disease.
